New feature in iOS4 - folders!

My 11 pages of apps in iPhone have been compressed to just 3 pages thanks to the new folder capabilities in iOS4. This feature is tremendously helpful in organizing the iPhone apps. They come in icon-sized boxes that contain mini-sized apps icons within them.

Using this feature is really simple:

  1. Hold your finger on any icon until all the icons start to wiggle
  2. Drag and drop an icon that you wish to put into a folder on top of another icon which you want to put into that same folder
  3. The moment you dropped the first icon, the folder will be automatically created. The name of the folder is according to the category of the app, but you can easily change it
  4. Once the folder is created you can drag and drop more apps into it up to a max of 12 apps.
  5. Press the home button once when you are with organizing your apps
  6. You can easily access the contents of the folder by tapping on it once and select the app that you wish to launch

Similarly on iTunes (version 9.2 onwards), you could also manage your folder under the Devices > iPhone > Apps tab. Just drag and drop apps on top of each other to form a folder.

With folders, you could probably store up to a whopping 2016 apps on your iPhone!

Do you think that Apple has done a good job on the user interface of the folder feature?
